My first blog post!

I feel so hip and cool...I'm writing a blog! Honestly, I've shied away from it, simply because I thought I'd never be able to consistently write posts. So, with no promises about how often this gets updated, (some may later feel that less is more!) here I go.
Quilt Expressions is my quilt store, located in Boise, Idaho, or Garden City, Idaho, depending on how you split hairs. Garden City is smack dab in the middle of Boise, but for some reason it has retained its independent city status. We get mail that's addressed to us in Boise and Garden City--the post office doesn't seem to note the distinction.
I love my quilt store, my staff and the people who visit us. I think the best qualification a shop owner can have is to be inherently nosey...and I am! I am interested in all the projects my customers are working on, and I don't have a preference as to fabric choices, patterns (just don't ask me to piece or applique the tricky stuff) or styles. I do have a preference for size, so my staff has come to call my the "Queen of Make-it-Bigger."

Speaking of making it bigger, we recently moved the shop into a new location, down the strip, that's twice the size.

Here's some photos from moving day. Rodi on the left (she's gonna kill me for this view), Kat's in the middle, and that's Susie on the right--are wheeling a load down the strip to our new location.

We used a scissor lift to clean the ceilings in our new spot...not my favorite chore! That's me on the left, Rodi in the middle and my husband, Ron, on the lift.

This is a "before" photo of the new shop at the end of the first day of moving. Whew! We got 'er done. Trust me, the shop has come a long way from this. I guess I'll have to take some new pictures for the next post.

Until next time, happy sewing!
